Campaign Code of Conduct
The purpose of this agreement is to communicate to all volunteers, and campaign staff that Friends for Forsythe, the campaign to re-elect Jessica Forsythe to Redmond City Council, maintains a high level of ethical standards. Anyone found in violation of this agreement will be asked to apologize to the party/parties involved and may be asked to not return to volunteering efforts.
Ethical Standards
- I will not indulge in any activity which would corrupt or degrade the the campaign.
- I will treat everyone with respect and never intentionally injure their professional or personal reputations.
- I will not appeal to voters based on racism, sexism, ageism, ableism, religious intolerance or any form of unlawful discrimination and will condemn those who use such practices. In turn, I will work for equal voting rights and privileges for all citizens.
- I will refrain from false or misleading attacks on an opponent or member of their family and will do everything in my power to prevent others from using such tactics.
- I will be honest and candidly answer questions related to the campaign.
- I will not support any individual or organization which resorts to practices forbidden by this code.
- I will be committed to a vibrant democracy including ensuring free and fair elections that obey all laws and I will not degrade American Democracy. The continual and peaceful democratic process is an essential and a necessary part of our nation.
Safe and Inclusive Environment
Friends for Forsythe considers the following types of behavior examples of bullying and will not in any instance tolerate bullying behavior:
- Verbal bullying. Slandering, ridiculing or maligning a person or his or her family; persistent name-calling that is hurtful, insulting or humiliating; using a person as the butt of jokes; abusive and offensive remarks. Spreading rumors and gossip regarding individuals.
- Physical bullying. Pushing, shoving, kicking, poking, tripping, assault or threat of physical assault, unwanted physical contact, damage to a person's property.
- Gesture bullying. Nonverbal gestures that can convey threatening or racist messages.
- Exclusion. Socially or physically excluding or disregarding a person in volunteer-related activities. Public humiliation in any form.
Individuals who feel they have experienced bullying should
report this to Jessica Forsythe before the conduct becomes severe or pervasive. All volunteers are strongly encouraged to report any bullying conduct they experience or witness as soon as possible to allow
Friends for Forsythe to take appropriate action.
