Jessica Forsythe Bio
Jessica Forsythe is a Redmond City Councilmember, small business owner, former non-profit Executive Director, and proud SEIU member running for Washington State House of Representative in the 48th Legislative District. Elected to Council in 2019 and chosen as Council President in her first term, she brings experience from the public, private, and non-profit sectors, has passed billion-dollar budgets, championed legislation that became state law (SB 5452 and SB 6002), expanded tenant protections, co-authored Redmond's Climate Emergency Declaration, and added three Mental Health Professional positions to the city's crisis response team. A former award-winning creative director, she brings a design-thinking framework to governance–centering the voices most often excluded from decision-making. Through her non-profit leadership expereince, she worked every day to uplift women and non-binary leaders in Washington. In Olympia, she will fight for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, immigrant rights, reproductive freedom, housing affordability, fully-funded education, and a clean energy transition built with strong labor standards.
